Fatoumata Sissoko-Sy, PROPARCO’s Regional Director for West Africa, and Dramane Bazié, Chief Executive Officer of COFINA Burkina Faso, have signed a Technical Assistance project to finance the agricultural sector under PROPARCO’s “Fragile Countries” initiative.
The Technical Assistance to the Compagnie Financière Africaine Group (COFINA), one of the leading pan-African groups for MSME financing, will make it possible to launch a study on the cotton sector to subsequently promote the implementation of appropriate financing solutions for MSMEs in Burkina Faso’s agriculture sector.

Launch of the EURIZ guarantee - €181 million to facilitate MSMEs’ access to credit in Africa and the Caribbean

AFD and Proparco, with the support of the European Union and the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States, are launching EURIZ, a new scheme enabling financial institutions to partially hedge their credit risk.

The objective is to offer local banks guarantees so that they can more easily provide loans to MSMEs in the ACP area. This new project is part of the Thematic Blending Framework of the EU’s Development Cooperation Instrument and European Development Fund.

It is also part of Choose Africa, a French initiative targeting African MSMEs. It will support the creation and development of SMEs with a high development impact and promote job creation.
