On September 9, 2026, Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Nam A Bank) held a signing ceremony for a USD 30 million credit facility agreement with Proparco, France’s development finance institution under the French Development Agency (AFD). This five-year facility serves as an important lever for Nam A Bank to expand its green credit portfolio, supporting enterprises and sustainable development projects in Vietnam.

Under the agreement, the USD 30 million in funding from Proparco will be prioritized for key sectors including renewable energy, energy efficiency, climate change response and adaptation, and green construction projects.

This event marks a step toward realizing the commitments the two sides established in the Memorandum of Understanding signed in March 2026 in Paris, following Proparco's completion of its evaluation, on-site due diligence, and Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures for Nam A Bank. It is also regarded as the first concrete outcome of the “Green Finance Community” initiative launched by Nam A Bank at the Vietnam International Financial Centre (VIFC) in Ho Chi Minh City.

Commenting on the significance of the partnership, Mr. Vo Hoang Hai, Deputy General Director of Nam A Bank, said: “This USD 30 million facility is clear evidence of a leading European development finance institution’s confidence in the Bank’s governance capacity. Nam A Bank remains firmly committed to implementing its strategy built on the two pillars of ‘Digitalization and Greening’ to turn international financial resources into practical, cost-effective credit solutions – helping customers, especially SMEs, women-led enterprises, and sustainable agriculture models, strengthen their competitiveness and break through in the market”.

Meanwhile, M. Jean-Benoit Du Chalard, Proparco regional director for Northern and South Eastern Asia, also expressed confidence in Nam A Bank’s sustainable direction, hoping the partnership will help spread positive impact toward Vietnam’s emissions-reduction goals, sharing: “We are pleased to announce this high-impact partnership signed today in Vietnam. This 100% climate-focused credit line reflects our shared ambition to tackle climate change in a country particularly vulnerable to climate-change hazards.

Notably, the signing ceremony takes place as part of a series of activities running from September 8 to 9, 2026, jointly organized by AFD and Proparco together with international environmental management consultancy SLR Consulting. The program offers specialized training courses designed for Vietnamese financial institutions, focused on strengthening capacity in Environmental & Social (E&S) risk management as well as climate risk management, in line with the most rigorous current standards, including the IFC Performance Standards and the World Bank’s Safeguard Policies.

The application of international E&S standards helps Nam A Bank enhance its appraisal capacity, ensuring that funding is disbursed quickly and safely while optimizing effectiveness for customers’ green projects.

With this partnership, Nam A Bank continues to move closer to its goal of building a “Green Finance Community” at VIFC while continuously expanding its network of international partners. Since the beginning of 2026, the Bank has successfully raised nearly USD 350 million from global development finance institutions.

These mobilized resources will be allocated to strategic target groups and objectives such as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), women-led businesses, clean energy projects, and green and digital transformation initiatives linked to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
