Proparco is pleased to announce its participation as anchor investor (USD 55 million) in The Mauritius Commercial Bank Limited’s (“MCB”) USD 400 million bond issuance. This transaction further deepens Proparco’s long-standing relationship with MCB, a leading bank in Mauritius and a key regional player in financing across Africa.

This milestone transaction follows the signing of a USD 100 million credit facility supporting MCB’s climate financing, arranged by Proparco and mobilizing European partners DEG and FMO. It marks the 11th transaction between MCB and AFD Group over a 25-year relationship built on trust, mutual learning and a shared ambition to support sustainable development.

The successful bond issuance highlights MCB’s ability to attract diversified funding, especially amidst volatile market conditions. The bond, listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) was substantially oversubscribed with orders of USD 800 million (excluding Joint Lead Managers’ interest) at peak, reflecting the market’s confidence in MCB’s strategy, execution capacity and positioning in sustainable finance. Together with fellow anchor investors DEG, FMO and MCB Securities Ltd, Proparco is proud to have supported MCB in raising USD 400 million through this issuance.

Proparco highly values this strengthened collaboration with MCB, which now extends across a wide range of products, including credit lines, bond issuance, trade finance and technical assistance. This partnership also reflects Proparco’s recognition of MCB’s capacity to generate impact, underpinned by a mature sustainability framework and a clear commitment to advancing climate finance across Africa.
