Proparco is supporting the expansion of the Tunisian start-up GoMyCode in Africa and the Middle East, with Africinvest and the participation of Wamda Capital.
Client presentation
GoMyCode’s mission is to bridge the skills gap between the existing educational infrastructure in the region and digital skills needed in today’s global job market. The company, which started its activities in Tunisia, now operates in 8 countries in the Middle East region and Africa. Every month, 1000+ new students enroll in one of GoMyCode’s 30 courses with the intention of learning digital skills very much in demand on the job market.
Project description
The current fundraising will allow GoMyCode to fulfill its mission of building a sustainable and affordable educational platform in Africa and the Middle East. The funds will be used to support the company’s international development and in particular to scale up its services in Egypt and Nigeria, two strategic countries.
Project impact
In a region where over 50% of young people are unemployed and where there is strong population growth, edtech solutions like GoMyCode meet a strong need for value-added training. Over the next 5 years, this project should provide training for 99,000 students and support some 400 jobs. It will thereby contribute to the achievement of SDG 4 “Quality education” and SDG 8 “Decent work and economic growth”.
