In 2014, Noha Khater set up Almouneer Diabetic Eye Care, a chain of eye care clinics based in Cairo, with a new approach to prevent and treat blindness. Almouneer aims to improve eye care standards by using technology to provide low-cost services to people in need. In 2022, the company had 7 clinics in Egypt and had treated 61,000 patients from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Libya, Yemen and Ghana. Noha Khater was subsequently joined by Rania Kadry as CTO/co-founder. They are now considering how Almouneer can build on and further develop their technology platform for their growth.
Proparco is investing USD 400,000 in Almouneer through the Bridge Fund by Digital Africa to support the expansion of Almouneer’s “DRU” platform, which is specialized in treating patients with pre-diabetes, diabetes and obesity.
