Proparco has allocated a EUR 2.3m grant to the Aga Khan hospitals in East Africa to increase access to healthcare by strengthening oxygen supply and the free provision of quality healthcare for needy patients.
Client presentation
AKHS-K is the Kenyan branch of the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) network which provides a continuum of healthcare and manages community health programs in Central Asia, Southeast Asia and East Africa via 9 hospitals and 430 healthcare facilities. AKHS has been operating in East Africa since 1944 and provides healthcare to some 700,000 people a year in Kenya and Tanzania. The institution is recognized for the wide range of specialties it offers, the quality of its healthcare and its close dialogue with the ministries of health, in particular during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Project description
The EUR 2.3m grant allocated to the Aga Khan hospitals and health centers in East Africa will increase access to healthcare services by strengthening oxygen supply and the free provision of quality healthcare for needy patients. The grant will benefit the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi and the Aga Khan hospitals in Mombasa, Kisumu and Dar Es Salaam, as well as 94 outreach and medical centers of the Aga Khan Health Services in Kenya and Tanzania.
