Client presentation
Lanka Microfinance Practitioners' Association (LMFPA) is the organization of the microfinance practitioners network set up in 2006. LMFPA’s mission is to promote a “dynamic and sustainable microfinance sector for an inclusive financial system in Sri Lanka”.
Project description
Support for financing a responsible microfinance workshop organized in July 2019 by the Association of Microfinance Practitioners in Sri Lanka, in partnership with the Smart Campaign. The objective was to raise the awareness of the main stakeholders in the microfinance sector in Sri Lanka, including the regulators, in order to promote responsible microfinance practices, with a focus on client protection and the prevention of the risk of overindebtedness. Proparco participated in the event to give the perspective of a development finance institution on these issues.
Project impact
The project should contribute to promoting the creation of a regulatory framework for the microfinance sector, and more specifically responsible microfinance practices for the prevention of overindebtedness and the principles of client protection. Over 100 participants are expected.
