Filippo Gabriele La Verghetta

Filippo Gabriele La Verghetta is acting Head of Unit in the Directorate-General for International Partnerships of the European Commission. Before joining the European Commission, Filippo worked in business intelligence and infrastructure finance in emerging markets. Filippo holds an MSc in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and a BA in Politics and Arabic from the School of Oriental and African Studies.

EUROPEAN COMMISSION

The European Commission is the executive body of the European Union. Within the Commission, the Directorate-General for International Partnerships is responsible for formulating the EU’s international partnership and development policy. The External Action Guarantees unit manages the European Fund for Sustainable Development Plus. This fund uses financial instruments such as guarantees, equity, risk capital, and blended finance, in partnership with Development Finance Institutions, to support investments in Africa and other regions.
