Proparco renews its support to Banco Ademi to advance financial inclusion for entrepreneurs in the Dominican Republic

• Proparco is providing a DOP-denominated financing package to Banco Ademi, the leading microfinance institution (MFI) in the Dominican Republic, comprising a senior loan equivalent to USD 15 million and Technical Assistance.
• The financing will support the growth of Banco Ademi’s loan portfolio.
• By continuing its support to Banco Ademi, Proparco reaffirms its long-term commitment to helping reduce socio-economic inequalities in the Dominican Republic.

In the Dominican Republic, Banco Ademi plays a key role in promoting financial inclusion among vulnerable populations. This latest operation marks Proparco’s third long-term loan and second technical assistance to the microfinance institution, bringing the total number of Proparco operations with Banco Ademi to seven, including two portfolio guarantees and one technical assistance previously provided. These operations build on the long-standing cooperation between the AFD Group and its first Dominican client, which dates back to 1998. 

The technical assistance provided alongside the financing will enable Banco Ademi to further strengthen its sustainable and responsible strategy. Proparco previously supported the microfinance institution in achieving the highest level of the Client Protection Certification in December 2024. Banco Ademi now intends to deepen its commitment through an Environmental & Social (E&S) rating and an impact assessment, which will enable it to demonstrate the tangible impact of its policies on its beneficiaries, particularly the most vulnerable.
