Proparco and Cresol Partner to Strengthen Financial Inclusion and Rural Microfinance in Brazil
Published on
This strategic partnership places a strong emphasis on sustainable development and tackling territorial inequalities, with a 15% funding target dedicated to the Legal Amazon region.
Proparco and Central Cresol Baser, one of Brazil's leading credit cooperative networks, announce the signing of a major USD 60 million financing agreement. This collaboration aims to increase access to finance for small rural producers and micro-businesses, and to support local micro-entrepreneurs across the country.
In the face of banking accessibility challenges in remote municipalities, this partnership enables Cresol to deploy more resources to boost financial inclusion for small rural producers in territories often underserved by traditional banks.
“This USD 60 million project, our first microfinance project in the country, reflects our commitment to sustainable and inclusive finance in Brazil. By specifically targeting the Legal Amazon at 15%, we aim to participate, among other efforts, in strengthening bioeconomy value chains in this region, creating viable economic opportunities for local communities,” emphasized Mr. Julien Vanhooydonck, Regional Director from Proparco.
“The partnership with Proparco represents a historic milestone for Cresol. This significant financing equips us to amplify our impact on the ground, consolidate our microfinance solutions, and guide our members toward sustainable production models,” stated Mr. Adriano Michelon, Executive Director of Central Cresol Baser.
