Torrecom builds and manages telecom towers in Nicaragua and Guatemala. The loan will allow Torrecom to continue its development in these two countries and improve access to 3G/4G.
Client presentation
TORRECOM PARTNERS LLC Y COMPAÑÍA LIMITADA and TORRECOM GUATEMALA LIMITADA are developers, owners and operators of telecom towers in Nicaragua and Guatemala. The towers are developed via Sale and Leaseback contracts (acquisition of an existing portfolio of towers) and Build-to-Suit contracts (construction of towers at the request of a mobile operator).
Project description
The loan will allow Torrecom to continue to develop its portfolio in Guatemala and Nicaragua, with the objective of building 700 towers by 2019.
Project impact
The project’s main impacts concern: (i) the improvement in access to telecom services, in particular data telecoms (3G/4G), via the extension and densification of networks; (ii) the improvement in the performance of the sector, particularly via the development of a joint rental model which, due to a pooling effect, reduces the cost for the sector and visual pollution, and (iii) the impacts on employment, particularly at macroeconomic level.
