The loan allocated to Transjamaican Highway aims to extend the Transjamaican highway, which links up the country’s cities. This new section is contributing to the economic development of the island and is reducing traffic problems.
Client presentation
Transjamaican Highway Limited is a company under Jamaican law owned by the French companies Bouygues TP and Autoroutes du Sud de la France. In this respect, it benefits from the expertise of leaders in the road infrastructure sector. In 2014, TJH obtained the ISO 9001 certification, recognizing the quality of its services and managerial methods.
Project description
Proparco’s financing will contribute to financing the extension of the Transjamaican Highway. A 10 km-long 2 x 2 lane section will be built between Sandy Bay and Four Paths. This extension will be combined with the construction of two tollbooths, a 165 m-long bridge crossing the Rio Minho River and 17 other bridges.
Project impact
The improvement and strengthening of communication routes between the country’s cities will contribute to the development of national economic activity and promote the integration of markets. This new section will also reduce traffic problems on the island’s main traffic route to the west of Kingston.
