Project description
Proparco’s loan will contribute to financing two photovoltaic power plants (Calama Solar 3 and Pozo Almonte 2 & 3) in the northern region of Chile. These two power plants, with a total capacity of 26.5 MWc and a total cost of USD 82.1m, have been developed by Solarpack Chile. They are the first plants on this scale in the country.
Project impact
This project will meet the region’s growing energy needs, particularly in the mining industry – a key sector for Chile’s economy. It will also have a positive impact on the climate by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 37,000 teq CO2 a year.
