Proparco, alongside several Development Finance Institutions and commercial lenders, is participating in the financing of the Bash and Dzhankeldy projects, two onshore wind farms developed by ACWA Power in Uzbekistan, by providing USD 80m (USD 40m per project).
Client presentation
ACWA Power Bash Wind is a project company and a subsidiary of the ACWA Power group, a major player in the development, construction and operation of power generation and desalination projects.
Project description
The two Bash and Dzhankeldy wind farm projects are located in Uzbekistan, north-west of Navoi and north-west of Samarkand, respectively.
The two projects, each with a capacity of 500 MW, are financed by a group of international donors, including Proparco, EBRD and DEG.
Project impact
The project for the Bash and Dzhankeldy wind farms, with a total capacity of 1 GW, is part of the Uzbek Government’s policy to develop renewable energies (objective of a 5G W wind capacity by 2030). The project will avoid the equivalent of 2.252.000 tCO2 a year and will improve access to electricity for some 465,000 people. Finally, it will support 2,527 jobs.
