In Paraguay, Proparco has allocated EUR 40,000 of technical assistance to Banco Continental.
Client presentation
Banco Continental has been the leading bank in Paraguay since 2013. It is a universal bank: it offers banking and financial services to over 100,000 clients operating in all sectors of the economy via a network of 62 branches. Banco Continental is specialized in corporate finance in the business segment.
Project description
The technical assistance (TA) project aims to assist Banco Continental with the development of strategic documents, analysis tools and new procedures to facilitate the implementation of a green credit line financed by Proparco and the development of its climate finance activity.
The 12-month TA program is based on 3 modules:
- Screening, market analysis and the preparation of strategic documents,
- Development of a climate finance toolkit and support for reporting,
- Training and capacity building.
Project impact
The TA project will ensure that greater account is taken of climate issues internally (the bank’s management and operational teams). It will also strengthen the skills of the teams for the identification and analysis of projects with climate co-benefits. The project’s component on developing a strategy will help the bank diversify its activity towards sectors with climate co-benefits and greener growth.
