Projet Advans ci
Advans is building a network of microfinance institutions in Africa and Asia. Proparco is supporting the development of African subsidiaries, their strengthening in Pakistan and Cambodia and the creation of two new establishments.
Client presentation
Advans SA is an investment holding company set up by Horus Development Finance and several donors (AFD, FMO, EIB, KfW). Its mission: build a network of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Africa and Asia. This network currently comprises nine MFIs (Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, DRC, Tanzania, Côte d'Ivoire, Cambodia and Pakistan). It has over 500,000 clients.
Project description
FISEA has made a EUR 2.5m equity investment in Advans SA to support the consolidation and development of its African subsidiaries, the capital increase of the Pakistani subsidiary, the creation of new subsidiaries in Tunisia and Myanmar, as well as the acquisition of additional shares in the Cambodian subsidiary (AMRET).
Project impact
This operation will support access to credit for populations excluded from traditional sources of financing. It will also provide essential capital for the development of microenterprises and SMEs in French-speaking Africa and post-crisis countries. In addition, the fact that Proparco has become a shareholder of Advans will contribute to improving the network’s governance standards.
