The first edition of the Fellowship brought together more than 18 different nationalities and some 40 investment structures from the various parts of the continent. More than 14 emblematic funds* supported this first Fellowship. It's "a unique chance to build a network so that we can contact these new relationships when opportunities arise", says Jean-Yves Mea, an impact investor at the Injaro fund, who took part in the first fellowship.
The African Private Equity Fellowship offers talented young investors the opportunity to meet their peers during an executive program covering all aspects of private equity, private credit and venture capital. The Fellowship combines the sharing of experience, in-depth technical and sectoral analysis, and networking through thematic videos, working sessions with experienced professionals, and case studies inspired by real investment cases...
As Françoise Lombard, Managing Director of Proparco, points out: "Supporting private sector investment in Africa means strengthening the community of African investors. This community is best equipped to understand the diversity of local contexts, while being connected to the international ecosystem." This pilot program fully illustrates one of the goals of Proparco's new strategy: to explore new ways of supporting our clients and mobilizing our partners to act together for greater impact.
