KCB Bank Kenya Limited is a financial services provider headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. It is licensed as a commercial bank, by the Central Bank of Kenya, the national banking regulator. The bank is the leader on the local market by market share and is fully owned by KCB Group. Established in 1896, KCB Group is the first banking group in East Africa.
The objective of the senior debt facility of USD 95m is to support KCB Bank Kenya in its strategy to increase lending towards climate, women, MSME and social sectors (healthcare and education).
This facility allows KCB Kenya to promote: Green financing projects to support climate action (SDG 13)- access to finance for SMEs and women-owned enterprises (SDG 5)- stimulate job creation and economic growth (SDG 8). 5 078 micro-enterprises and 4 670 SMEs will be financed over the 5 year tenor of the credit line (among which 50% will be led or managed by women). Over 99 700 jobs will be sustained.
