South Asia Growth Fund II is an investment fund dedicated to financing companies active in the fields of energy efficiency, clean energies and the optimization of natural resources, mainly in India.
South Asia Growth Fund II (SAGF II) is supported by GEF Capital Partners and will invest in companies promoting cleaner energy sources and industrial production, an efficient use of energy and equipment and a sustainable management of natural resources in South Asia. SAGF II will mainly target companies operating in India, but may also invest in similar companies in Bangladesh.
On the economic and social front, the fund targets sectors that have difficulty finding appropriate sources of financing and will also contribute to the employment of local people. The project is expected to help create or maintain over 4,000 direct and indirect jobs, 20% of which will be held by women.
On the environmental front, the fund targets sectors with moderate E&S risks which focus on projects for REN infrastructure and energy or resource efficiency.
