In Dhaka – the hub of global textile production – Proparco is partnering with a major player in the sector in an innovative way. As well as creating permanent jobs in an industry dominated by seasonal employment, a highly original technical assistance programme financed by Proparco is improving the health and education of employees. It's a win-win solution: the company benefits from healthier and loyal female employees who are less likely to be absent from work.

This new edition of the KEY POINTS brochure presents the main expected impact results of a scope of 75 new financings signed by Proparco in 2021. It also shows their expected contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The last section focuses on the actual impacts of our projects, in line with our ex-ante estimates. This summary brochure has been produced before the publication of the full Sustainabie Development Report, which will be available soon.

Enda has been the leading microfinance institution in Tunisia and the Arab world since 1995, by demonstrating that microcredit is a powerful driver for poverty reduction and economic development. Today, it offers a range of customized products that contribute to the financial empowerment of marginalized populations, especially women. It offers free non-financial services (support, training, awareness-raising workshops…), while continuing its microcredit activity for entrepreneurs.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, the new issue of the magazine Private sector and Development focuses on the role of the private sector in reducing gender inequalities in developing countries. Despite increased awareness since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration of 1995 and the progress made, women worldwide still face a multitude of inequalities, and at the current rate the gender gap would take around a hundred years to be completely closed.
