On the occasion of the Africa Financial Summit (AFIS), CRDB joins forces with Proparco and FMO to increase green lending and support for agricultural value chains. Through this joint transaction, CRDB is contributing to the 2X Challenge initiative in support of gender-equality. Proparco has structured this USD 125m financing to CRDB Bank alongside FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, with Proparco contributing USD 50m and FMO providing USD 75m.

Proparco partners with CRDB Bank to boost MSME growth in Tanzania with €48 Million in new guarantees
Proparco renewed its strategic partnership with CRDB Bank Plc, Tanzania’s largest financial institution, by granting two new guarantees worth €24 million each, totaling €48 million. This collaboration with a trusted long-term partner is designed to drive growth and support high-impact MSMEs across Tanzania, fueling economic development and job creation.
The signing ceremony took place on March 24th, in Dar es Salaam, in presence of H.E. Anne-Sophie Avé, French Ambassador to Tanzania, Jean Guyonnet-Dupérat, Proparco’s Regional Director for East Africa, Abdulmajid Nsekela, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CRDB Bank Plc and the EU Representative in the country, Sebastian Schaber.

Through a credit line and portfolio guarantees amounting to a TZS182 billion commitment, Proparco will help boost CRDB Bank’s capacity to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Tanzania, with a particular interest for MSMEs led by women and those that have been affected by the Covid-19 crisis.

The international arm of one of the world’s largest development organisations, BRAC, has launched a capital markets debt programme that will secure financing for its microfinance operations for the coming decade. Proparco, with a 25 million dollars facility, have participated to the launch of the programme alongside Global Partnerships.

Team Europe FMO and Proparco support Tanzanian private sector growth through USD 125 mln to NMB Bank
FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, recently arranged a USD 125 mln senior loan facility for its long-term customer NMB Bank in Tanzania. The senior loan is provided in partnership with French Development Finance Institution, Proparco, contributing USD 50 mln to the total facility and will be used for financing MSMEs, women owned- and agri-businesses. The facility demonstrates FMO and Proparco’s commitment to driving Tanzania’s growth in partnership with solid local institutions.
