IDB Invest and Proparco supported pharmaceutical distributor DIFARE in the issuance of Ecuador's first sustainability-linked bond and the first in the pharmaceutical sector in the country. The $50 million issuance with a five-year tenor will be used primarily to finance capital and renewable energy investments. IDB Invest, as anchor investor, will subscribe USD 28.5 million of the bond, and Proparco USD 21.5 million.

The $50 million loan granted to DP World Posorja will finance the construction of a new deepwater port terminal in the Guayaquil region, Ecuador's economic capital.

By allocating a USD 15m loan to SONGA, a shrimp producer, and a USD 25m loan to Phoenix Tower International Ecuador (PTIE), a telecoms company, PROPARCO has reiterated its support to Ecuador’s private sector and is investing in key sectors for the country.

Proparco has granted a USD 15 million loan repayable over 8 years to Ecuador-based SONGA (Sociedad Nacional de Galapagos) to help boost its production capabilities. Nearly 450 jobs will be created both directly and indirectly over the coming years thanks to the development of this group, reputed for deploying best industry standards at all of its farms.

Proparco has just subscribed to green bonds issued for the first time by Banco Guayaquil, up to 45 million dollars (USD). Ecuador's second largest private bank, a Proparco partner since 2019, has decided to mobilize financing for its clients' high environmental impact projects.
