Local branch Proparco in Lebanon

The $18 million credit line granted by Proparco will enable Fransabank to support Lebanese SMEs and corporates in difficulty. This is Proparco's third operation with this leading Lebanese bank.

Mobile network telecommunication towers, ensuring coverage of the territories and providing access to digital services, are essential to support growth in developing and emerging economies. However, a large share of telecommunication towers is not connected to the national power grid, and usually works on fuel generators. Through a $20 million loan granted to the Lebanese company IPT Powertech, Proparco will contribute to the energy efficiency of mobile towers, significantly reducing their CO2 emissions and operating cost, improving access site economics.

Proparco has just signed a USD 2.5m guarantee with the microfinance institution Vitas S.A.L. to allow it to develop loans for micro and medium-sized enterprises in the North, Akkar, Bekaa and Beirut governorates, with a focus on young entrepreneurs under 30.

Proparco has been working for the private sector and sustainable development for over 40 years. A subsidiary of Agence Française de Développement, Proparco invests to support the growth of private and financial players that actively contribute to the economic, environmental and social development of developing and emerging countries.

Proparco is reiterating its support for Vitas Liban, following an initial operation in December 2020. This new partnership, in the form of a €2 million ARIZ TPE MINKA portfolio guarantee, aims to cover 80% of the loans granted by the microfinance institution.
