By granting an exceptional guarantee of one million euros to Union Internationale de Banques (UIB), Proparco confirms the strength of its partnership with this key player in the economic development of Tunisia. This support is part of the French Choose Africa initiative dedicated to to supporting start-ups, VSEs and SMEs in Africa.

Proparco has signed a EUR 12m credit line to CIL to develop its leasing activity.

Amethis, an investment fund manager dedicated to the African continent, has announced the first closing of the Amethis MENA Fund II (AMF II) at EUR 85 million.

At the Tunisia 2020 Conference, in addition to several memoranda of understanding and financing agreements signed by AFD Group, Proparco has signed an agreement to provide support for the Enda microfinance institution, rounding out two recent agreements signed last October which are also designed to help the Tunisian microfinace sector to grow.

Proparco has taken an equity participation worth 5.9 million in Enda Tamweel, the pioneering microfinance institution in Tunisia. This participation is part of the microfinance institution's reserved capital increase amounting to a total amount of 72 million dinars (about 24.3 million euros) in which five other international investors participated, including the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO).

Scatec and Toyota Tsusho – Aeolus join forces for Tunisia solar projects,
Scatec ASA, a leading renewable energy provider, and Aeolus SAS, part of the Japanese conglomerate Toyota Tsusho Group, have signed a partnership agreement to jointly develop and own renewable energy projects in Tunisia. In parallel, financial close has been achieved for the 120 MW Sidi Bouzid and Tozeur solar projects (each 60 MW), which are part of the partnership agreement. Scatec will now start construction of the projects. Proparco and European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are supporting this project actively.

Proparco is committed to supporting the development of Advans' digital strategy through technical assistance granted for the implementation of pilot projects. These will improve Advans' service offer to its customers.

With the support of the European Union, a EUR 15m loan has been signed between Proparco and Arab Tunisian Lease (ATL), with the aim of supporting Tunisian MSMEs.

Proparco has partnered with RMBV to invest in North Africa Fund III (NAF III), which focuses on mid-cap companies in Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. This initiative marks RMBV’s first fund as an independent manager.

For more than 20 years, Proparco has been supporting this key actor in the Tunisian SME financing ecosystem, offering simple and convenient financing solutions to entrepreneurs. The new €15 million credit line granted by Proparco will enable Tunisie Leasing et Factoring (TLF) to continue to develop its business.

Proparco has signed in Sharm el Sheik a $5.8 million investment in the 1st closing of the Sawari Ventures North Africa Fund I. This fund will invest in nearly 25 fast-growing start-ups in Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.
