The rating agency Standard & Poor's (S&P) announced on 16 February 2018 it assigned Proparco its AA rating, acknowledging its "very strong capacity to meet financial commitments". This rating also benefits from a stable outlook.

Proparco's long term credit is assigned S&P's "AA" rating while its short-term issuer credit is assigned S&P's "A - 1+"  rating. These ratings are aligned with those of its parent company Agence Française de Développement (AFD), itself mirroring France's ones.

This alignment as well as its stable outlook reflect the "very close integration within and extremely high strategic importance to AFD". Proparco's ambitious growth objective to reach €2 billion in annual commitments by 2020 is perfectly aligned with the AFD Group's crucial goal to strengthen the private sector in developing countries. Proparco thus benefits from its parent company's direct support and financial strength in its current growth.
