Proparco is participating in the procurement of high-tech medical equipment for the HOMS hospital in the Dominican Republic. This modernization will improve the country’s healthcare provision in both quantitative and qualitative terms.
The Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago (HOMS) was set up in 2008 and is a private generalist medical center with 240 beds. It has modern hospital facilities and state-of-the-art technologies and is the referral health facility in the Cibao region. Alongside its internal hospital activity, the hospital has 184 surgeries and hosts a non-profit foundation.
Proparco’s loan will contribute to financing the acquisition of high-tech medical equipment for the Oncology, Neurology, Cardiology and Robotic Surgery Departments. It will also contribute to the creation of a cardiology unit and to the construction of a professional medical building housing 150 new medical consultation rooms.
This project, by contributing to upgrading the HOMS hospital, will improve healthcare quality in the Dominican Republic. It will also increase the medical consultation capacity to meet the growing needs of populations.
