Chain Hotel Niamey is an SPV dedicated to the project, owned by Teyliom Group, a Senegalese-Ivorian actor operating in a number of West African countries. Teyliom operates in the telecoms, banking, real estate and agribusiness sectors, and more recently moved into the hotel sector with a first project already financed by FISEA with EUR 3m of equity in Guinea Conakry.
Teyliom Group has decided to develop an extensive range of hotels (3 projects already in operation, 5 others at relatively advanced development stages), but also to create a hotel operator and 3 brands with very distinct universes, making it a 100% African integrated range. The Group stands out from the competition by the very modern design of its hotels, designed by the South African architect Soata. The project is cofinanced with the local bank BIA Niger (which is providing EUR 3.8m).
The project involves providing EUR 8.5m of financing for the construction of a 140-room hotel in Niamey under the Noom brand, the upscale business brand of the African group Teyliom.
Furthermore, an ongoing technical assistance budget aims for a comprehensive security survey to be conducted by a specialized consultant to assist Teyliom Group in ensuring the security of its hotel Noom Niamey. This survey could be used by the Group’s other hotels which are currently in the construction phase, in particular in Côte d’Ivoire and Congo-Kinshasa, where there are real security needs.
Chain Hotel Niamey will contribute to the economic development of the city of Niamey. This new hotel will enhance the attractiveness of the city, which suffers from a major hotel shortage.
The project will also accelerate the transfer of know-how between international and local contractors and create over 150 direct jobs during the operational phase. In addition, support will be provided to analyze the security risks faced by this type of infrastructure in a country in a sensitive situation, via a technical assistance contract signed with PROPARCO. The aim is to call on an expert and ensure maximum protection for clients. The technical assistance project will allow Chain Hotel Niamey to offer its clients hotel accommodation with the best possible safety conditions.
