By supporting Banbif, Peru’s sixth largest bank, Proparco is increasing the availability of medium and long-term financing in the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors – which employ 30% of the country’s working population.
BANBIF is Peru’s sixth largest bank for the size of its loan portfolio. It was set up in 1991 and provides universal banking services to corporate and private customers via a nationwide network of 63 branches. BANBIF is increasingly active in the agricultural and agro-industrial segments.
Proparco’s credit line will be earmarked to finance agricultural and agro-industrial companies. It will allow Banbif to meet increasing needs for medium and long-term financing in the agricultural and agro-industrial sector in Peru.
This project will contribute to agricultural and agro-industrial development in Peru: this sector employs 30% of the working population. It will support the development of the agricultural supply chain and increase incomes for populations who are depended on agriculture and agro-industry.
