Proparco is helping COFINA structure agricultural sectors in Burkina Faso

Fatoumata Sissoko-Sy, PROPARCO’s Regional Director for West Africa, and Dramane Bazié, Chief Executive Officer of COFINA Burkina Faso, have signed a Technical Assistance project to finance the agricultural sector under PROPARCO’s “Fragile Countries” initiative.
The Technical Assistance to the Compagnie Financière Africaine Group (COFINA), one of the leading pan-African groups for MSME financing, will make it possible to launch a study on the cotton sector to subsequently promote the implementation of appropriate financing solutions for MSMEs in Burkina Faso’s agriculture sector.

To mark the launch of the new “Resilience” component of the French Choose Africa initiative in Burkina Faso, Mrs. Fatoumata Sissoko-Sy, PROPARCO’s Regional Director for West Africa, and Mr. Harold Coffi, Chief Executive Officer of Société Générale Burkina Faso, have today signed a new Choose Africa project in the presence of H.E. Luc Hallade, Ambassador of France to Burkina Faso. The exceptional Choose Africa Resilience guarantee granted by PROPARCO will cover the allocation of loans by Société Générale Burkina Faso to SMEs in the country affected by the crisis.

INDIA: USD 75m to develop the microfinance activity of IndusInd Bank and support women entrepreneurs in rural areas

Proparco has just signed a USD 75m loan with IndusInd Bank for its Microfinance Division. This financing will allow the bank to increase the number of microcredits allocated to women entrepreneurs in seven of the poorest States in India. It will thereby contribute to the development of women’s entrepreneurship.

During his visit to Brazzaville, Mr Franck RIESTER, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, launched the "Choose Africa Resilience" guarantee granted by AFD Group to Société Générale-Congo to support the financing of Congolese MSMEs affected by the economic crisis.

This morning, AFD Group presented the figures for its activities in 2020. Despite an exceptional context marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, Proparco, the Group’s private sector financing arm, has topped the mark of €2 billion of commitments for the second year in a row. In 2020, Proparco’s priority was to support its clients to limit the impact of the health, social and economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. This situation also prompted Proparco to strengthen its partnership approach, especially with its European counterparts (EDFIs) and the European Union.
