South Africa : The AFD and Proparco at the Biofuels Markets Africa 2006 conference.
The AFD and Proparco participated in the conference on biofuels in Africa held in Cape Town from November 30th to December the 1st 2006.
The main topics that have been discussed were the development of biofuels in the world and lessons for Africa (Brazilian and European models), the essential role of the regulations in the development of biofuels in Africa, biofuels impact in Africa and on CDM (Clean Development Mechanism), the issues of biofuels market, the financing of biofuels projects and the usage of biofuels in other sectors than transport. Case studies (big/small producers) were also treated.
This conference has allowed networking with major players in the biofuels market in Sub-Saharan Africa.
